Almodovar municipality upgrades rural road network with parish council partnership

The Almodovar municipal council is expanding cooperation with local parish councils to restore and maintain the municipality’s network of rural roads. Mayor José Tadeu Freitas said the work aims to improve mobility and address rural depopulation, noting that many routes were in a critical state and difficult for residents to use daily. The municipality provides machinery and operators, while the parishes supply consumables and other materials needed for the projects. The improvements are being carried out in phases, moving from one parish to the next, with the objective of delivering a higher‑quality public service and better conditions for residents to remain in the area.
