Almond prices trend upward as Spanish harvest nears completion
The almond harvest in Spain is nearing completion, with the campaign expected to finish within ten to fifteen days, even for late-ripening varieties. Javier Fatás of COAG noted that the harvest has arrived approximately ten days earlier than last year.
Production forecasts were initially set above 135,000 tons, though COAG suggests final figures may fall slightly below this due to regional variations. While some areas report higher than expected yields, others have seen decreases caused by drought, pests, and hail damage in regions including Murcia, Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia. Despite these challenges, almond prices are showing an upward trend.
