Almonte prepares for summer arrival of the Virgin of El Rocío and jubilee celebrations

The Hermandad Matriz of Almonte has announced an extensive summer programme centred on the Venida de la Virgen del Rocío. The Virgin will be transferred to Almonte on 19 August, following the opening of the Año Jubilar on 15 August at the Santuario de Nuestra Señora del Rocío.

Key religious events include the Rocío Chico triduo from 16 to 19 August, the Solemn Vow ceremony, and a nightly procession of the Santo Rosario. Over 200 new brothers are expected to be inducted during this period.

The schedule also features cultural and youth activities: the 36th Encuentro de Jóvenes Rocieros (24‑26 July), a series of summer dialogues on the history of the Virgin’s transfers, and exhibitions titled “Sagrada” and “Traslado” running until 30 August. Prominent figures such as journalist Carlos Herrera and entrepreneur Ricardo Laguillo will take part in the exaltation ceremony on 5 August. The events aim to draw thousands of pilgrims and residents together for a season marked by devotion and celebration.
