Almonte prepares for the arrival of the Virgen del Rocío

The municipality of Almonte is preparing for the arrival of the Virgen del Rocío, marking the beginning of a significant religious period. The town has already begun decorating its streets with handcrafted elements and has inaugurated an ephemeral cathedral in the Plaza Virgen del Rocío to welcome the patron saint.

This upcoming arrival is particularly notable as it coincides with the Rocío Jubilee Year. Unlike previous transfers, this period will allow devotees to seek plenary indulgences at the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption. For the nine months the Virgin remains in Almonte, the town will serve as the primary destination for pilgrims and brotherhoods from across Spain, shifting the traditional flow of pilgrimage toward the town center.
