Almuñécar and Villena schools begin new academic year

Educational centers in Almuñécar and Villena have commenced the new school year following various maintenance and renovation works.

In Almuñécar, an investment of 27,900 euros was used to replace old rubber flooring with artificial grass at La Santa Cruz and La Noria schools, as well as the Los Marinos nursery school. This project benefits over 600 students. Overall, the Almuñécar City Council has allocated 479,449.20 euros for general maintenance, repairs, and improvements across educational facilities in Almuñécar and La Herradura.

In Villena, the 2026-2027 school year began for 4,491 students across infant, primary, and secondary levels. Local municipal crews performed repairs on boilers, dining room furniture, fencing, ceilings, and plumbing to prepare the facilities. While most centers opened normally, officials noted that works at the Santa Teresa and Príncipe Don Juan Manuel schools remain pending.
