Almuñécar begins maintenance of 10,000 palm trees
Almuñécar has launched its annual palm tree pruning and cleaning campaign, targeting more than 10,000 specimens across the municipality and La Herradura. The maintenance program includes the removal of dry leaves, flowers, and seeds, as well as pruning trees that require it.
Work is scheduled to begin on September 7 in Calle Tetuán, continuing through Calle Guadix on the following days, before expanding progressively to various streets, gardens, and walkways. According to Carlos Ferrón Ferrón, the head of Parks and Gardens, the city utilizes two pruning teams year-round.
During the summer months, maintenance is prioritized in areas that do not affect parking spaces to accommodate high visitor numbers. With the arrival of September and declining temperatures, teams will begin working in zones where vehicle removal is necessary to facilitate the tasks.
