Almudaina Tower celebrates 17th anniversary with free open house

The Almohad Tower of Almudaina is hosting three days of free open house visits on August 14, 15, and 16 to commemorate the 17th anniversary of its opening to the public. Organized by the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) with support from the Diputación de Alicante and the Almudaina City Council, the event aims to promote local cultural and tourist activity.

Constructed in the first half of the 13th century, the tower was part of the defensive fortifications for the ancient alquería of al-Mudayyina. The monument, which holds the status of a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC), features a square floor plan and rammed earth walls. Visitors can explore its various levels to learn about the building's evolution and the history of the region, while enjoying views of the Mariola and Benicadell mountain ranges.

The cultural event coincides with the III Local Gastronomy Fair held in Almudaina on Saturday.
