Egyptian market sees stable currencies, falling silver and chicken prices
Egyptian banks reported that the Saudi riyal and other Arab currencies remained largely unchanged against the Egyptian pound on 4‑5 August 2026, with the riyal trading around 13.34 EGP per unit and the US dollar near 50.2 EGP. The stability was echoed across major banks such as the Central Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr and CIB.
Precious‑metal prices slipped modestly: the gram of 999‑fine silver fell to about 93.97 EGP, while the British‑sterling‑denominated silver dropped to 87.01 EGP. Larger silver units also declined, with the ounce priced near 2,922.80 EGP.
Poultry prices showed a slight decrease, with the wholesale price of white chicken falling by 3 EGP per kilogram to around 58‑59 EGP, while domestic retail prices for white chicken averaged 76 EGP per kilogram. Prices for other cuts and whole chickens varied within the 200‑300 EGP range.
