Aloft receives major Discovery & Ancestry update

Astrolabe Interactive has released the ‘Discovery & Ancestry’ update for its sandbox survival game, Aloft. This marks the final major update during the game’s Early Access period as the developers shift focus toward the official version 1.0 release.

A central feature of this update is the transition to a complete open-world structure, moving away from segmented regions to address player feedback regarding freedom of movement. The update also introduces the ‘Wind Spirit,’ a companion that players can befriend to assist with wind control and environmental healing.

Additional content includes new sub-biomes such as jungles, snowy regions, prairies, and dense forests, alongside new environmental events like tornadoes and asteroid belts. The update also implements a new ‘Ancestral Memories’ system for character progression and upgrades the game engine from Unity 2021 to Unity 6 to improve visual performance and UI responsiveness. Due to significant changes in world generation, players are encouraged to start new worlds, though character transfers are available.
