Along With the Gods franchise to return with third film

Director Kim Yong-hwa is preparing a third installment in the successful South Korean fantasy film franchise, titled ‘Along With the Gods: Life and Death’. Dexter Studios has confirmed its involvement as both an investor and a provider of post-production services, including visual effects (VFX), digital intermediate (DI), and sound design.

The new film is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of 2027. Unlike the previous two films, which focused on the seven trials of hell and the thousand-year bond between the three grim reapers, this chapter will explore ‘Gucheon’ (the Nine Heavens). This realm is inhabited by souls who remain stuck between life and death due to unresolved emotional attachments.

The story will follow a protagonist named Sol-i, who must traverse nine different worlds to find a song she was never able to sing. The franchise holds the distinction of being the first in South Korean cinema to have two consecutive films surpass 10 million viewers, with the first film drawing 14.41 million and the second drawing 12.27 million.
