Alonissos to receive funding for water network and fuel supply solutions
Following a meeting between Magnesia MP Christos Boukouros and Interior Minister Theodoros Livanios, significant decisions have been made regarding infrastructure and services for Alonissos.
Funding of 471,000 euros has been allocated to replace the island's water supply network. The current system, composed of aging asbestos-cement and PVC pipes, has caused operational difficulties and high desalination costs. The project aims to modernize the network and improve water supply reliability.
Additionally, the meeting addressed chronic fuel supply issues facing the Municipality of Alonissos. Due to geographic isolation and difficulties in attracting suppliers, the island has faced recurring service disruptions. To resolve this, a new regulation is expected to be submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Development to create a more flexible procurement process tailored to the needs of remote island regions.
