Alonnisos hosts 10th Traditional Dance Festival with 800 performers

The island of Alonnisos in the Sporades hosted the 10th Anniversary Traditional Dance Festival from 3–5 July 2026. The three‑day event featured 23 dance ensembles and more than 800 dancers representing regions from across Greece, including the North, Crete, the Peloponnese and Attica. Performers formed large circular dances and showcased traditional costumes, music and customs, drawing a record‑high attendance for a cultural‑tourism event in the country.

Panagiotis Tsoukanas, president of the Cultural Association of Alonnisos, praised the festival as a milestone for the island and announced plans for the 11th edition, scheduled for 2–5 July 2027, promising an even larger program of Greek folk dance and heritage.
