Alonso Acosta resigns from Teletica after 25 years as producer of El Chinamo

Alonso Acosta, the longtime producer of the Costa Rican Christmas‑time TV program El Chinamo, announced his resignation from Teletica after a 25‑year tenure. He told La Teja that his decision was a personal choice made long before the recent retirement of Ignacio Santos, who left the broadcaster in February, and that Santos’ departure did not influence his own.

Acosta posted on social media, "I am deeply grateful to God, the production staff and Canal 7 for the opportunity to produce a program that has made history in Costa Rica," adding that he was "closing a cycle of 25 years." Teletica spokesperson Mario Nájera later said, "El Chinamo todo normal. El programa continúa," while noting that a new producer has not yet been named.
