Alpac Capital acquires Adria News Network media group
Alpac Capital, a Portuguese investment fund, has moved to acquire the Adria News Network (ANN), a major media group in Southeast Europe including N1 and Nova outlets across several countries. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alpac Capital announced it has received all necessary regulatory approvals for the acquisition of N1 and Nova BH. Following the takeover, the company appointed Amir Zukić to lead the N1 BiH news program and Dželila Mizdrak to head Nova BH.
Pedro Vargas David, owner and director of Alpac Capital, stated that the acquisition is a strategic investment aimed at developing media operations in the region. He emphasized a commitment to maintaining high journalistic standards and protecting editorial independence from internal or external influence.
However, the South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM) has expressed deep concern regarding the takeover. The organization, representing media professionals from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Slovenia, warned that the rapid changes in management and the timing of the takeover raise serious questions about editorial independence. They noted that the ANN portfolio includes some of the region's few remaining independent and non-nationalistic media houses.
