Huixquilucan: Metal structure collapses onto vehicle, killing one woman

A woman died on Friday, August 14, after a large metal structure collapsed onto her vehicle in Huixquilucan, Estado de México. The incident occurred on Boulevard Interlomas, near the Paseo Interlomas shopping center.

Preliminary reports suggest the collapse was triggered when a concrete mixer truck, performing maneuvers for nearby construction or paving work, struck the base of the structure. The impact caused a large metal sign or totem to detach and fall directly onto a white Honda SUV. The driver, identified in some reports as a 35-year-old woman, was trapped under the wreckage and died at the scene despite efforts from emergency responders.

The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, with vehicle congestion extending approximately two kilometers along La Barranca. Emergency services, including firefighters and Civil Protection, responded to the scene to secure the area and manage the wreckage. The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM) has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the collapse and establish legal responsibilities.
