Alpenland acquires Leiner site in St. Pölten
The non-profit housing company Alpenland has acquired the former Leiner site located near Rathausplatz in St. Pölten, Austria. The approximately 9,000-square-meter building complex has remained vacant for an extended period following several company bankruptcies.
St. Pölten Mayor Matthias Stadler expressed optimism regarding the sale, describing Alpenland as a “reliable partner” with a proven track record of construction throughout the country. Isabella Stickler, chairwoman of Alpenland, stated that the objective is to “not simply complement, but enhance” the surrounding area.
Future development plans, which must be coordinated with the city, are expected to include a combination of existing building renovations and new construction. Proposed concepts include green spaces, pedestrian pathways connecting Rathausplatz and Schießstattring, commercial spaces, gastronomy, and residential units. The project aims to integrate with planned urban improvements, such as the city's green loop.
