The Alpenländischer Volksmusikwettbewerb took place in Innsbruck, bringing together over 700 young musicians and singers from Austria, Bavaria, Switzerland, and South Tyrol. The biennial event, organized by the Tiroler Volksmusikverein, serves as a major gathering for emerging talent in Alpine folk music.
Participants competed in various categories, including vocal and instrumental groups. Notable successes included groups from Upper Austria, such as Familienmusik Klein and Trifarbig, who received the Herma-Haselsteiner-Preis, the competition's highest honor. Other recognized Upper Austrian groups included Powidl Partie, Zupft wia Zogn, Finstermooser Hausmusi, and Siccardsburger Dreigesang.
South Tyrol was also well-represented with 50 participants, including two vocal groups, nine instrumental groups, and a harmonica soloist. The event featured a broad program, including folk dance festivals and performances throughout Innsbruck's old town.
