Alper Akgül wins 8 swimming titles and qualifies for national team

Alper Akgül, a 17-year-old swimmer with autism, has achieved significant success in the SOBE Autism Sports Games held in Konya. Akgül won championships in all eight swimming disciplines he entered during the July Turkish Championship.

Having started swimming at age 11 to overcome a fear of water, Akgül has progressed to a professional level. He recently surpassed the national team qualifying barrier in the 100-meter butterfly event. His coach, Gül Ay, stated that they are currently working to expedite his licensing process to prepare him for European and World championships.

Akgül maintains a rigorous training schedule, practicing twice a day, six days a week, with the ultimate goal of representing Turkey on the international stage.
