Alpha Bank numismatic collection to be exhibited in Cyprus

Alpha Bank and the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia are co-organizing a special numismatic exhibition titled ‘Messages in Metal. A timeless dialogue with Cyprus’. This marks the first time a significant portion of Alpha Bank’s international numismatic collection is being presented in Cyprus.

The exhibition features 136 rare coins, including 110 from the Alpha Bank collection, 23 from the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, and 3 from the Leventis Gallery. The display aims to highlight Cyprus's long numismatic history and its role in the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Key artifacts include a silver tetradrachm of Demetrius Poliorcetes issued in Salamis, a gold stater of King Philip II of Macedon commemorating the Olympic victory of 352 BC, a silver tetradrachm of Eucratides from Bactria, and a silver gros of Catherine Cornaro, the last Queen of the Medieval Kingdom of Cyprus. The exhibition is organized into three themes: ‘Transactions’, ‘Narrative’, and ‘Symbolism’.
