Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter suspended amid Madison hazing investigation

Madison police are investigating allegations of violent hazing involving the Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity chapter in Wisconsin. On September 23, officers responded to an anonymous tip at a residence on Langdon Street, where they discovered approximately 30 young men, most aged 18, in a basement.

According to police reports, the men were partially clothed and covered in food, sauce, and other liquids in a hot, humid environment. Several individuals exhibited injuries consistent with physical assault. Two 20-year-old men, identified as Brayden J. Klein and Samuel N. Van, were arrested and charged with suspected violent hazing and indecent or inappropriate behavior.

In response to the incident, AEPi national headquarters has issued a cease-and-desist order, suspending all programming for the Madison chapter. This suspension includes new member meetings, social events, and philanthropy activities. The national organization stated that anyone found responsible for criminal conduct will be expelled and that they support prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
