Greece implements large-scale economic aid and agricultural subsidies
Greece is implementing a series of economic measures and subsidies targeting various sectors through 2027. A major package of measures from the DEC is expected to provide €3.5 billion to approximately 2.2 million beneficiaries. This includes rent assistance for healthcare and education professionals in regional areas, as well as increased annual supplements for pensioners.
The agricultural sector is also receiving significant support. Subsidies for fertilizers, de minimis payments, and pre-fertilizer aid are scheduled for distribution through late 2026. Additionally, investment plans for rural modernization are being rolled out, including subsidies of up to 70% for irrigation systems and renewable energy, and support for purchasing machinery like tractors with costs up to €145,000. Regional investments in Crete and mainland Greece are also highlighted as part of these modernization efforts.
