Alphabet AI products reach 2.5 billion monthly users

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced at Google I/O 2026 that the company’s AI products have reached over 2.5 billion monthly active users. A primary driver of this growth is AI Overviews, the Gemini-powered summaries integrated into search results.

Other key metrics include the Gemini app, which grew from 400 million monthly users at the end of 2025 to approximately 1 billion by late 2026. Alphabet now reports having 13 products with more than 1 billion users each, five of which exceed 3 billion users.

To support this demand, Alphabet is forecasting capital expenditures between $180 billion and $190 billion for 2026, focusing heavily on AI infrastructure such as data centers and custom chips. The company’s token processing has increased sevenfold year-over-year, reaching over 3.2 quadrillion tokens per month.
