Alphabet faces AI-related securities suit and antitrust remedy disputes

Alphabet Inc. faces legal challenges regarding its AI development timelines and advertising practices. A shareholder, Chris Stewart, filed a securities class-action complaint in the Northern District of California against Alphabet, CEO Sundar Pichai, and CFO Anat Ashkenazi. The lawsuit alleges that statements made by Pichai regarding the launch dates of the Gemini 3.5 Pro model were materially false or misleading.

Separately, in the ongoing antitrust case United States v. Google LLC, the U.S. Department of Justice and 17 states have submitted a proposed final judgment to the Eastern District of Virginia. The filing reveals significant disagreements between the government and Google regarding the implementation of remedies for its ad exchange. The parties remain divided on deadlines—with the DOJ seeking six months and Google seeking twelve—as well as geographic reach, data rights, and the authority of a court-appointed monitor.
