Alphabet growth driven by Google Cloud and Gemini AI
Alphabet is positioned for potential long-term growth, driven largely by its cloud computing and artificial intelligence sectors. Google Cloud has transitioned from a cash drain to a primary driver of recent gains, reporting an 82% year-over-year revenue increase in the second quarter. The segment currently maintains a $514 billion backlog, which is estimated to cover more than five years of revenue at current levels.
Artificial intelligence remains a central catalyst for the company. The Gemini app has reached 950 million monthly active users, with the model processing 22 billion tokens per minute, representing nearly 40% sequential growth. Additionally, core business segments such as Google Search and YouTube continue to show growth, with revenue increasing by 17% and 13% year-over-year, respectively.
