Alphabet Inc. issues $25 billion in debt with maturities through 2066

Alphabet Inc. has executed a $25 billion senior notes sale consisting of ten separate tranches. The debt maturities range from 2028 to 2066, with $2.5 billion of the notes carrying a 6.5% interest rate due in August 2066. The company stated the net proceeds are intended for “general corporate purposes, which may include the repayment of outstanding debt.”

Institutional investment activity regarding Alphabet has seen significant shifts. Berkshire Hathaway sharply increased its position by approximately 48 million shares, making Alphabet its third-largest holding. Conversely, other firms such as Chesley Taft & Associates LLC and Mechanics Bank Trust Department reported reductions in their stakes during recent quarters. Meanwhile, Assenagon Asset Management S. A. significantly increased its position by 107.4% during the second quarter.
