Google launches Gemini ‘Call for Me’ feature for Pixel 11

Google has introduced ‘Call for Me,’ an experimental AI feature for its Gemini assistant that allows the technology to autonomously handle phone calls to businesses. The feature is currently in an early preview phase, specifically available to paid Gemini subscribers in the United States who use the Phone by Google Public Beta on Pixel 11 devices.

Gemini can perform routine tasks such as checking product availability, booking or managing appointments and reservations, and navigating automated phone menus. During a call, the AI identifies itself as a virtual assistant and informs the recipient that the call is being recorded. Users maintain oversight through a live transcript of the conversation and can take control of the call at any time.

Separately, Google DeepMind is accelerating the development of Gemini 4. Koray Kavukcuoglu, who recently took leadership of the division, stated that the model is in the post-training phase. Google aims to release an early version of Gemini 4 well before the end of 2026 to regain momentum in the competitive AI landscape.
