Alphabet's SpaceX investment grows over 100-fold to $94 billion
Alphabet’s investment in SpaceX has grown more than 100-fold since its inception. A 900 million dollar investment made in 2015 reached a valuation of approximately 94.1 billion dollars by the end of June 2026.
Following SpaceX’s initial public offering in June 2026, Alphabet became the largest reported institutional investor in the company. As of June 30, Alphabet held 551.2 million shares. While market fluctuations later reduced the estimated value of this stake to approximately 77.9 billion dollars, the return remains over 86 times the original investment.
Other major institutional investors in SpaceX include Fidelity Investments, Gigafund Management, Baillie Gifford, and BlackRock. Additionally, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund held approximately 154.1 million shares, valued at roughly 26.3 billion dollars at the end of June. Elon Musk maintained an economic stake of 48.4 percent in SpaceX as of June 30.
