Alphen aan den Rijn to replace underground waste container card readers

In Alphen aan den Rijn, the municipality is set to replace card readers for underground waste containers starting September 1. The project includes renewing battery packs, solar panels, and drum locks. This large-scale European tender covers fill-level systems for 1,420 containers and access control systems for 1,087 containers.

The technical upgrade has prompted political questions from the city council. Concerns have been raised regarding the timing and costs of the infrastructure renewal, specifically because the council has not yet finalized the long-term waste policy.
