Alphense Jaarmarkt expects 100,000 visitors

The annual Alphense Jaarmarkt is taking place in Alphen aan den Rijn, with organizers expecting approximately 100,000 visitors. The event features over 500 market stalls and requires extensive logistical preparation, including the deployment of hundreds of barriers, mobile toilets, and extensive electrical cabling.

According to Winfried Ponsioen, chairman of the foundation board, the event operates on a budget of approximately 100,000 euros, with a 30,000 euro subsidy provided by the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn. Preparation for the event is a year-round process, with evaluations for the following year beginning as early as October.

On the morning of the event, vendors were busy setting up stalls and managing electrical connections. While the day began with sunshine, weather forecasts indicated the possibility of showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
