Alphonse Mucha exhibition in Tainan attracts 100,000 visitors
The “New Art Realm: Alphonse Mucha Centennial Classic Exhibition” in Tainan has concluded, attracting nearly 100,000 visitors. Sponsored by Cathay Financial Holding, the exhibition featured 156 rare original works from the Mucha family collection, including paintings, posters, illustrations, prints, jewelry designs, and sculptures.
Alphonse Mucha was a prominent figure of the late 19th-century Art Nouveau movement, known for integrating art and design into daily life through posters and commercial objects. The exhibition showcased his evolution from elegant aesthetic designs to works reflecting national culture and humanistic concerns.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Cathay Financial Holding organized public viewing days for local students from Tainan, including pupils from Sanguo Elementary School and Dannei Junior High School, to provide direct access to international-level artworks. This initiative aligns with the company’s long-term “Art is Life” philosophy and its ongoing support for cultural education and the arts in Taiwan.
