Alphonso Davies to miss Canada international matches for honeymoon

Canada national team captain Alphonso Davies will miss upcoming international friendlies against Chile, Peru, and the United States to take a honeymoon. The decision was made with the support of both the Canadian Soccer Federation and his club, Bayern Munich.

Canada head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed the absence, noting that Davies married singer Sheyenne Jen in Paris following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Marsch explained that while the team considered having Davies join the camp midway through the break, they ultimately decided to grant him full time off to ensure he is physically and mentally prepared for important matches in November and the upcoming competitive cycle.

This follows a challenging period for the defender, who dealt with hamstring injuries that limited his participation during Canada’s recent World Cup campaign. Davies has since returned to strong form with Bayern Munich.
