Alpiagra fair opens in Alpiarça with new local pastries

The 44th edition of the Alpiarça Agricultural and Commercial Fair (Alpiagra) begins this Saturday, August 22. The event features the traditional Grape Harvest Procession and the introduction of ‘Pastéis de Melão’, a limited-edition pastry inspired by local agricultural products.

The opening ceremony will include Alpiarça Mayor Sónia Sanfona and Pedro Beato, Vice-President of the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo. The fair, which runs until August 30, aims to connect agriculture, gastronomy, and local traditions.

New features include the ‘Espaço Entre Culturas’ to promote community exchange, with the municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere participating as a guest. Musical highlights include a performance by Bárbara Tinoco, followed by various DJs and parties in the youth area.
