Alpine accidents in Austria leave two young hikers seriously injured

Two separate alpine accidents involving young tourists have occurred in Austria.

In Tyrol, a 12-year-old boy from the Netherlands fell approximately 20 to 30 meters onto steep, rocky terrain near Längenfeld while hiking with his father. The boy was found unconscious and was airlifted by a medical helicopter to a clinic in Innsbruck, where he remains in intensive care.

In the Lilienfeld district, a 19-year-old Swedish tourist fell about 30 meters in the Ötschergräben area while attempting to descend toward a stream. His 18-year-old companion, an Afghan national residing in Vienna, also sustained injuries during the descent to reach the victim. Despite difficult weather and wind conditions, rescue teams used a police helicopter to airlift both individuals to a hospital in St. Pölten.
