Alpine hospitality sees leadership awards and major resort expansions
The Alpine hospitality sector is seeing significant developments in innovation and recognition. Franz-Josef Perauer, Managing Director of Alpine Hideaway Zillertalerhof in Mayrhofen, has been named ‘Hotel Leader of the Year 2026’ at the Independent Hotel Show Munich Awards. The award recognizes his unconventional approach to leadership, design, and sustainability within the independent hotel industry across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
In a separate development, the Höflehner family has announced a major expansion of their operations, transitioning from a nature and wellness hotel to the Höflehner Naturresort. Scheduled for the 2026/27 winter season, the project includes the construction of Haus Waldhorn, featuring 30 new family rooms and suites, alongside a dedicated adult-only wellness concept at the existing Premium Alpin Spa. The expansion aims to provide two distinct vacation worlds for families and adults seeking tranquility.
