Alpine secures front-row lockout at Fuji after qualifying cancellation
Heavy rain and poor visibility at Fuji Speedway have forced the cancellation of the qualifying sessions for the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Fuji. Following an immediate red flag during the LMGT3 session caused by François Heriau crashing his AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, race officials determined that weather conditions would not improve sufficiently to continue.
As per sporting regulations, the starting grid has been determined by the combined times from the practice sessions. In the Hypercar class, Alpine Endurance Team will secure a front-row lockout, with the No. 36 car of Jules Gounon and Victor Martins taking pole position, followed by the No. 35 car of Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg in second. The Aston Martin THOR Team No. 007 will start fourth following a two-place grid penalty incurred during FP3.
In the LMGT3 class, Proton Competition’s Ford Mustang No. 77 will start from pole position. The Genesis Magma Racing team achieved its best-ever grid position, with two cars starting in the top five.
