Alpine mountain passes: Brenner and Oberjoch routes

The Brenner Pass serves as a vital Alpine transit point connecting Germany, Austria, and Italy. Located at approximately 1,370 meters on the border between Tyrol and South Tyrol, the pass facilitates significant road, highway, and rail traffic. Key infrastructure projects include the Brenner Base Tunnel, a 55-kilometer rail line between Innsbruck and Franzensfeste, which is planned for commissioning in 2032.

In Germany, the Oberjoch Pass in the Allgäu region is recognized as the country's most winding mountain road. Connecting Bad Hindelang to the Tannheimer Valley in Austria, the pass features 106 curves over a five-kilometer stretch. It is a popular destination for motorcyclists and hosts the Jochpass Memorial, an event for vintage vehicles that was recently secured following a local referendum in Bad Hindelang.
