Schaffhausen roof fire linked to photovoltaic system defect

On the morning of 1 August 2026 a fire broke out on the roof of a terraced house at Bockrietstrasse in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. First investigations point to a technical defect in the building’s photovoltaic installation as the likely cause.

No injuries were reported, but the blaze caused considerable property damage and left several nearby buildings without electricity and gas for about three hours.
