Alpine regions prepare for 2026/2027 winter season with infrastructure upgrades

European Alpine regions are implementing significant infrastructure and service upgrades in preparation for the 2026/2027 winter season, focusing on sustainability, technological innovation, and diversified tourism.

In France, ski resorts are transitioning toward a “four-season” model to attract travelers beyond the winter months. Planned improvements include new lift systems to reduce wait times and expanded experiential offerings, such as “insider” tours with ski patrollers and snowmaking crews. Cultural initiatives, such as an underwater art exhibition in Tignes, are also being integrated into the mountain experience.

In the Val Senales region, Alpin Arena Senales has completed summer construction projects to enhance snow reliability. Upgrades include new snowmaking lines, advanced snow generators, and expanded water reservoirs. These improvements at the Hintereis and Teufelsegg areas aim to optimize energy efficiency and ensure high-quality slopes are available as early as November and December.
