Alpine Ski World Cup marks 60th anniversary with new calendar

The Alpine Ski World Cup subcommittee met at the FIS Autumn Meetings in Geneva to finalize details for the upcoming season, which marks the 60th anniversary of the series. To celebrate this milestone, the FIS plans to increase the visibility of the Crystal Globes, the iconic trophies awarded to overall and discipline winners. This will include enhanced broadcast graphics and more frequent on-screen appearances to boost sponsor opportunities.

The 2026/27 racing calendar has been confirmed. Key highlights include the return of women’s races to the Birds of Prey course in Beaver Creek, Colorado, featuring two Downhills and a Super-G. Other confirmed venues include Courchevel, France, for a women’s Slalom in late December, and Val di Fassa, Italy, for a speed weekend in January. The schedule also includes events at Cortina d’Ampezzo, the host of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
