Alpujarra Almeriense towns cancel fireworks due to fire risk
Local authorities and community organizations in the Alpujarra Almeriense region of Spain have agreed to cancel the use of rockets and fireworks during summer festivities in Fondón, Fuente Victoria, and Benecid. This decision was made as a preventive measure due to an elevated risk of forest fires.
The joint agreement includes the town councils, the Benecid local administration, and various local brotherhoods and pyrotechnic associations. Officials noted that high temperatures and abundant winter vegetation have created significant fuel for potential fires. In Benecid, the measure has already affected celebrations held from August 6 to 9, while Fondón and Fuente Victoria will hold their events from August 14 to 16 without pyrotechnic displays.
