Alqueva Sustainable Project launches digital tools for farmers and agri‑tourism firms in Portugal

The Alqueva Sustainable (Alqueva Sustentável) project has released two new digital platforms to aid sustainability in the Alqueva region. An application targeted at the agricultural sector helps farmers and farm managers assess and monitor sustainability indicators, collect relevant data and make more efficient resource‑use decisions. A Sustainability Barometer offers agro‑industry and tourism companies a diagnostic tool to evaluate their performance across multiple sustainability dimensions, analyse trends and guide strategic improvements.

The tools were developed by the Centre for Development of Rural Areas (EDIA) in partnership with NERBE/AEBAL and NERE. Both platforms are publicly available via the project’s website and are co‑financed by the Alentejo 2030 and Portugal 2030 programmes, aiming to strengthen the economic, social and environmental performance of regional businesses.
