Alqueva boat collision leaves woman seriously injured

A 49-year-old woman was seriously injured following a collision between two vessels in the Alqueva reservoir, near Praia do Lago in the Moura municipality.

The accident involved a recreational boat carrying five people and a private sport fishing boat with two occupants. During the collision, the woman fell into the water and sustained deep cuts to her shoulder, likely caused by a propeller.

A rescue operation involving 11 emergency responders, the GNR, and various vehicles was launched. After being stabilized by firefighters at the Praia do Lago pier, the victim was airlifted by an INEM helicopter from Évora to the Hospital de São José in Lisbon.
