Alès gas stations vandalized by driver protesting fuel prices

A 40-year-old delivery driver from Génolhac is facing legal consequences after vandalizing four gas stations in Alès on September 17. The suspect reportedly targeted the Carrefour, Hyper U, Total, and Leclerc stations on the Alès ring road, cutting fuel distribution hoses and destroying card payment terminals.

The individual claimed his actions were motivated by anger over rising fuel prices, which he stated threatened his livelihood. While the Hyper U station has begun reopening with limited service, the Carrefour and Leclerc stations remain closed, and the Total station has been unreachable, causing significant disruption and long wait times for local motorists.

Following an immediate appearance at the Alès criminal court, the suspect's trial has been postponed to November 23. He remains under judicial supervision, which includes a prohibition from entering Alès except for medical reasons and a mandate for psychiatric care.
