Alstom electric locomotives undergo preliminary reception in Romania
The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has completed the preliminary reception and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for two new Alstom Traxx Passenger electric locomotives, identified as LE12 and LE13. The inspection, which included visual checks and technical documentation analysis, took place at the Alstom Depot within the CFR Grivița workshops.
These locomotives are part of a larger contract for 16 multi-system electric locomotives supplied by the Alstom Transport SA – Alstom Transportation Germany GmbH association. Once they pass a 2,000 km endurance test and final reception, ownership will transfer to the beneficiary.
Designed to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h and capable of hauling 16 wagons, the locomotives will be operated by CFR Călători. They are intended to serve five major interregional routes covering a network of 3,978 km, including connections such as Dej – Brașov – București – Constanța and Timișoara – Cluj-Napoca – Iași.
