Alstom electric trains expand service on Sofia to Burgas route
Two additional Alstom Coradia Stream electric trains have been deployed to serve the route between Sofia and Burgas. This expansion increases the total number of new electric units in operation to six, with two more expected to enter service next week.
The new zero-emission single-deck trains are part of a contract between the Ministry of Transport and the BULEMU consortium, funded by Bulgaria's Recovery and Resilience Plan. The agreement includes the delivery of 35 electric trains and 15 years of maintenance.
Each train is named after a Bulgarian river, waterfall, or spring. Passengers can use QR codes located on the trains to access information about these natural landmarks via their mobile devices.
