Alstom employees to begin 25-hour warning strike in Germany
The Railway and Transport Union (EVG) has called for a 25-hour warning strike at Alstom Lokomotiven Service GmbH, beginning Monday at 5:00 AM. The industrial action is expected to last until Tuesday morning.
The strike primarily targets the main facility in Stendal, where approximately 280 employees work on locomotive maintenance, repair, and modernization. The labor dispute also extends to external locations in Chemnitz and Waibstadt.
The central issue is wage parity. The EVG claims that employees in Stendal earn up to 500 euros gross per month less than comparable workers at other Alstom locations. The union is seeking an alignment of pay scales following three rounds of negotiations, stating that previous offers from the company were insufficient.
