Alstom Secures €750 M Financing for Haifa‑Nazareth Light Rail Project in Israel
Alstom and its consortium partners have finalized financing for the NofiT light‑rail project linking Haifa, Nazareth and surrounding communities in northern Israel. The €2 billion programme will deliver a 41‑km line with 20 stations, aimed at carrying about 100,000 passengers per day.
Alstom’s contract, valued at roughly €750 million, covers the design, supply, integration, testing, commissioning and long‑term maintenance of the rolling stock and signalling systems. Israeli firms Electra Ltd and Minrav Ltd will handle civil works and infrastructure, while a joint venture of Alstom, Electra Afikim and Minrav will operate and maintain the network. The financing milestone moves the project into the full execution phase, with construction slated to continue over the coming years and the contract to be recorded in Alstom’s fiscal year 2026‑27.
The development is part of Israel’s broader effort to expand sustainable public transport in the north, reduce road congestion and improve access to jobs and services.
