Alstom secures £800 million maintenance deal with Greater Anglia

Alstom has signed a 15-year extension to its Train Services Agreement with Greater Anglia, valued at approximately £800 million (nearly 1 billion euro). The contract covers the maintenance of 133 five-car Class 720 Aventra electric multiple units (EMUs) used for commuter and regional services in the East of England.

Maintenance will be conducted at the Seven Kings Depot and includes all planned and unplanned activities, such as major overhauls, fault rectification, material supply, and reliability growth initiatives. The Class 720 fleet, which is owned and financed by Angel Trains, was manufactured at Alstom’s Derby Litchurch Lane Works.

The agreement provides a framework for collaboration between Alstom, Greater Anglia, and the future Great British Railways (GBR) to improve passenger experience and fleet availability. The contract is also expected to support approximately 100 jobs within Alstom’s UK operations.
