Alstom secures major UK rail contracts for maintenance and upgrades

Alstom has secured two major rail contracts in the United Kingdom, totaling hundreds of millions of pounds in value.

In one agreement, Alstom will undertake an £80 million project to maintain and upgrade eight Voyager trains for CrossCountry. Scheduled to begin in early 2027, the renovation will take place at the Litchurch Lane Factory in Derby. The upgrades aim to increase weekly seat capacity by approximately 60,000 and improve passenger comfort through modernized interiors, updated amenities, and enhanced safety features. Maintenance for this fleet will be supported by the Central Rivers Depot in Burton upon Trent.

Separately, Alstom has signed a 15-year, £800 million extension to its Train Services Agreement with Greater Anglia. This contract ensures the continued maintenance of 133 Class 720 Aventra electric multiple units at the Seven Kings Depot. The fleet, owned by Angel Trains, provides essential commuter and regional services. The long-term agreement establishes a framework for Alstom, Greater Anglia, and Great British Railways to collaborate on fleet reliability and passenger experience.
