Alstom to complete Linha 6-Laranja train deliveries by year-end

Alstom expects to complete the delivery of 22 trains for São Paulo’s Linha 6-Laranja by the end of this year. As of mid-August 2026, the 14th train composition has arrived at the Morro Grande Yard for testing.

The new trains feature CBTC signaling with GoA4 level technology, allowing for 100% automatic, driverless operation. Once the line is fully operational between Brasilândia and São Joaquim, it is projected to serve 633,000 passengers daily, reducing travel times from 90 minutes to approximately 23 minutes.

However, the completion of this order leaves Alstom’s factory in Taubaté without new domestic orders, as the company has recently lost market share to China’s CRRC in Brazilian rolling stock procurement. To maintain factory activity, Alstom is increasingly relying on international contracts to offset fluctuations in the Brazilian railway market.
